Sweet Sounds by Caleb :)

So my little man has started making fun little noises and even laughing at me (can't blame him for this, I make some goofy faces to get him talking!)  It's amazing how the simplest little milestones seem huge, even with the second child.  I love this little guy more and more every day!

Lesson Learned!

So we packed up and headed to the zoo for the morning.  It was a beautiful day and Brayden was so excited to see the lions and tigers...but first we had to stop and watch the carousel.

My big boy with his binoculars

Mesmerized by the animals going in a circle..who needs real animals?

The next few minutes are kind of a blur, as it all happened so fast...one minute Brayden was chasing a bird, the next he is face down in a small pond!  In his defense, the water was covered in a layer of foam and was flush with the ground...I don't think he even knew it was there! However, we were now faced with a major dilemma because I had about 3 other outfits for Caleb, but nothing for Brayden of course!

Wearing Mommy's jacket to stay warm!

Seeing as we had been at the zoo for all of about 5 minutes, leaving was not an option (ok, it was an option, but who wants to see their little boy sad??) So, daddy was off to the gift shop to see what he could find...

Someday we're gonna laugh about this!

Ta Da!  Could he be any dorkier??  Love it! The shirt is one of those where the body is on the shirt and then the head is your child's head!  Take a moment to appreciate the socks too... now imagine my son running around the zoo, with no shoes (they were soaking too, and luckily we remembered we had another pair in the car!)  What a sight :)
After our fiasco, we did manage to see some animals...

So you can bet that we will never again leave the house without a change of clothes for BOTH boys!  Lesson learned...the hard way! :)

You be the judge...

First of all, let me say how strange it is that I have 2 children now.  It's not that I have been in denial for the past 8 weeks.  It's just so strange that I have baby pictures of 2 boys, both created by Corbin and me, that I can look at and compare.  So, what do you think?  Do they look alike so far?  My opinion....they obviously swam around in the same gene pool but I'm not sure they look like twins or anything.

A Beautiful Day for a Visit

Caleb and I had the whole day to ourselves today.  Brayden went with his Aunt Meghan (or Aunt Gigi as he lovingly refers to her) to the desert where Mimi and Baba (Corbin's parents) were camping and riding quads and dirt bikes.

After Caleb so kindly took a 2 hour nap in the morning, allowing me to get some chores done, we headed out to see the world.  Ok, we weren't that ambitious.  However, we did manage to make a few stops...including Hobby Lobby and Old Navy to exchange some onesies.  The most important stop was documented in the picture below.

I had not taken Caleb with me to visit my mom's grave until today.  Although I know she is with us always, I felt it was important to take him there and spend some time.  He was in his usual smiley mood, and as we sat in the grass together I felt they had a chance to make a connection.

My mom had found out we were pregnant with Caleb just a few days before she passed away.  I am forever grateful that I had the chance to see the joy on her face as she became a grandmother of 2.  I am saddened by the reality that he will never know her personally, but am proud that his name, Caleb Jude, will forever be a reminder of a woman who loved her family more than anything in the world.

Bathtime!

So we have now lived in our new house for almost 6 months...and the guest bathroom is still missing a shower curtain, let alone decorations on the walls and any sort of theme!  This is not a huge deal, seeing as how Brayden is really the only one who uses it.  However, I have decided to get going on at least one project around the house.  You can only use the excuse that you have a new baby for so long!  I have recently become obsessed with decorating with photographs, which would be great if I was any good at taking them!  I got ambitious and brought the camera in last night during bathtime, hoping to get a few good shots to frame and hang up in the bathroom.  Here are a few of the good ones...and no, I haven't forgotten that I have 2 kids now!  Caleb is not such a pretty sight in the bath these days...screams his head off every time!
